Aguero began is career with Argentinian club Independiente in 2003 where he became the youngest player at 15 years old to play in their top division, breaking a record set by Diego Maradona. In 2006 he moved to Spain to join Atletico Madrid for a fee of €23m winning the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup. In 2011 he joined Manchester City for £35m. During his ten years at City he won 5 Premier Leagues, 6 League Cups and an FA Cup. He became the clubs all time top goalscorer and holds the record for the most Premier League hat-tricks (12).He moved to Barcelona in 2021 but was forced to retire due to medical issues a year later. At international level he represented Argentina u-20 team as they won the 2005 and 2007 FIFA u20 World Cups. He won a gold medal as Argentina triumphed in the 2008 Olympics. He finished his career as Argentina's third highest goalscorer and earned over 100 caps.
