Russo began at Charlton Athletic School of Excellence before joining Chelsea's development squad. In 2017 she joined Brighton for a short period and then headed to the USA to play college football where she came top scorer for North Carolina Tar Heels. In 2020 she joined Manchester United and the following year led the team with 11 goals in 30 appearances and was named as the team player of the year. During January 2023 she was the subject of a record transfer bid from Arsenal which was turned down. Internationally, she represented England at u15/ u17/u19/u20 and u21 level. In 2020 she was called up for the senior squad and appeared in all six games as a substitute in the 2022 UEFA Women's Euro competition. She ended the tournament with four goals for the Lionesses as they became Women's Euro Champions with her back heeled goal against Sweden being voted goal of the tournament. In July 2023 she joined Arsenal on a free transfer as her contract expired at United.
